Its a must have if you do vacuming,or work in a dusty enviroment like yard work; especially if you are Asthmatic or sensitive to dust and other irritants like dust mites,dander, mold, pollen etc.

When properly fitted these NIOSH approved particulate filters protect against a wide range of hazardous environments. Whether it's welding, brazing, torch cutting, or soldering these filters are a must have to keep you safe. Also protects against concentrations of lead, asbestos, cadmium, arsenic, and MDA up to 10x the permissible exposure limits (PEL) with half face pieces, and up to 50x the PEL with full face pieces. Lightweight and comfortable the 2091 P100 uses 3M's advanced Electret Media for easy breathing not found in traditional fiberglass containing filters. Also features a minimum filter efficiency of 99.97% as per 42 CFR 84 compliant testing.
